SEMO is pleased to announce the selection of two exceptional specialists from Latin America to join our elite volunteer team for the International Sports Event in Shanghai 2026. Following the recent withdrawal of two previously selected volunteers due to unforeseen personal circumstances, we conducted a targeted review of our qualified applicant pool with a focus on maintaining our commitment to global representation and specialized expertise.
We are delighted to welcome these accomplished professionals to our volunteer team.
“We are thrilled to welcome these specialists from Colombia and Argentina to our volunteer team,” notes Volunteer Program Director Elena Park. “Their exceptional qualifications align perfectly with our needs, and their Latin American perspectives further enhance the global character of our team. While we regret the circumstances that led to changes in our team composition, we’re confident these additions will strengthen our overall capabilities.”
The selection of replacement volunteers maintained the same exacting standards applied during our initial recruitment process:
Qualified Pool Review: Revisiting exceptional candidates from our original applicant pool
Specialized Expertise Matching: Identifying candidates with skills aligning with specific needs
Accelerated Interview Process: Comprehensive discussions with selection committee members
Reference Verification: Confirming professional excellence and reliability
Team Integration Assessment: Evaluating fit with existing volunteer specialists
“Our selection process remained as rigorous for these additions as it was for our original team,” explains Selection Committee Chair James Wilson. “We were fortunate to have an exceptional pool of qualified candidates who, despite not being selected initially, possessed the specialized expertise and international perspective we value.”
With these additions, our elite volunteer team now includes representation from 25 countries spanning all six inhabited continents:
7 volunteers from Asia
8 volunteers from Europe
6 volunteers from North America
4 volunteers from South America
4 volunteers from Africa
3 volunteers from Oceania
“Geographic diversity brings invaluable perspective to our team,” notes SEMO President Dr. Diana Chen. “The addition of specialists from Colombia and Argentina further strengthens our Latin American representation, ensuring a truly global approach to our event delivery and educational programming.”
Our new team members will make significant contributions in their areas of expertise:
Our Argentinian specialist will lead several components of our Professional Lecture Series, including:

“These specialists bring capabilities that will directly enhance both the operational excellence of our event and the educational value for participants,” explains Technical Director Michael Chen. “Their expertise complements our existing team perfectly while adding new dimensions in key areas.”
With just under four months until the event, our new team members have already begun their preparation and integration:
Comprehensive briefing materials provided immediately upon selection
Virtual introduction sessions with existing team members
Role-specific training underway with functional area leaders
Contribution to educational content development already initiated
Travel and accommodation arrangements confirmed
“The selective nature of our volunteer program, with just 32 highly specialized individuals, allows us to quickly integrate new team members,” notes Park. “Our new colleagues from Latin America have already demonstrated exceptional professionalism, engaging immediately with their responsibilities and connecting with their fellow team members.”
Our newest volunteers bring valuable perspectives that enhance our global approach:
The sports psychology specialist from Argentina emphasizes the importance of understanding how cultural factors influence athletic performance and team dynamics in international competition. Their expertise in cross-cultural approaches to performance excellence will provide valuable insights for athletes from all participating nations.
The technical specialist from Colombia brings extensive experience ensuring flawless competition delivery across diverse sporting environments throughout Latin America. Their expertise in adapting international standards to varied contexts will enhance our technical operations while ensuring accessibility for all participants.
